Distributors for BrickPi3 in Germany or EU (Common Market)?

hey’all,
which are the distributors for BrickPi3 in Germany or EU (Common Market, Euro Zone - depends on shipping costs)?

I am not a distributor specialist. I’ll have to get back to you on this one but in the meantime, I know these guys: https://www.generationrobots.com

no, Generation Robots doesn’t have them at all, and more over, they are generally EXTREMELY expensive for all their items (For U.S. company items: 40% over Ex-factory price) with HORRYFYING additional shipping costs from France to Germany.

Hmm, they posted on Twitter that they had them in stock as of Feb 21st.
I have tagged the persons who are more knowledgeable about distributors. I’ll probably get an answer by tomorrow.

Cleo

I tried already, of course:

Brickpi3: no results

It’s there in French. I have no idea what’s going on

Hey folks, we’ll reach out to Generation Robots and make sure they have the latest information on our BrickPi3. They are a fantastic partner and do an amazing job for us in Europe, and they are our longest running distributor.

If you’re concerned about prices, I would urge you to reach out to your national government and ask them to lower tariffs on our products.

Generation Robot is far too expensive, especially for German customers.
Already shipping from France costs probably about 20 EUR (shipping via Ebay is mostly free of charge, even from China!!), plus their excessive pricing in their shop.

In Germany we have cheaper sellers like Watterott, Pollin, or Eckstein, they are about 20% cheaper than Gen.Rob., and just 1/3 of the shipping costs if not even completely free.
Actually 1 BrickPi3 must not exceed 100-110 EUR incl. tax (VAT), customs, and shipping.

re:

BTW, actually your President Trump has cancelled TPP and TTIP, not the German Government or the EU Parliament (responsible for Foreign Trade) - we Europeans finally wanted to hold on to TTIP (it was a democratic vote after protracted negotiations).
Perhaps you may wish to contact your president to make him change his standpoint, in order to make US companies in the future “great again” especially by exports, and not just by the limited US domestic market …

It looks like they put a space between “BrickPi” and “3” (“BrickPi 3” instead of “BrickPi3”), so searching “BrickPi3” doesn’t come up with anything.

yes, you’re right!
But as I assumed, extremly expensive.
OTOH, competitive products from US companies are 20% cheaper at Watterott (e.g., Pist**** from Mindsen****)
http://www.watterott.com/index.php?page=categorie&cat=208&next_page=2

From that website, the product you refer to is 123.64 EUR (20% more than MSRP), and the BrickPi3 from Generation Robots is 119 EUR with taxes (27% more than MSRP). Basically Generation Robots marked up the BrickPi3 by 5.8% before taxes. That really doesn’t seem like a big difference, and still the BrickPi3 is less expensive than alternatives.

I checked that already 1 month from now, for Pistorms there have been 144 EUR for Gen.Rob. (+20 EUR shipping) vs. 123 EUR Watterott (+7 EUR).

What about buying from amazon?

show me please what and where (link ?!) if you suggest that, and did you even at least check it before? Please do not make confusing assumptions! This topic is not about wild guesses but about definitive real solutions. (JFYI, Amazon for Germany is just amazon.de, not amazon.com !)

BTW, about shipping from Watterott I was mistaken, it’s completely free, I confused that with another supplier.

So finally an item (Pistorms) which costs 126 EUR at Watterott will cost all over 164 EUR at Generation Robots, and for Brickpi it will presumably be the same, and that’s why I asked about different additional suppliers for German customers .

HaWe I share your frustration. I cannot understand why Dexter advertise in the UK as for years I have found it impossible to buy their products without getting fleeced. I would love to get some Grove Zero boards and the new BrickPi but simply can’t. Dexter refer me to Generation and ModmyPi (great supplier in the UK but clearly no interest in Dexters’ range) neither of which stock what I want. Matt these are potential customers expressing real difficulties with your supply chain and I am surprised at your dissmissal.

Hi All, our team brought this to my attention – I’m responsible for working with our distributors around the world, so wanted to chime in here and share some news. We’ve just shipped our entire line to ModMyPi, who will carry it on their own site as well as put on their Amazon UK account. We know that the price will still be higher than on our site for US customers, but that really is because of added logistics we all incur to get the products there. We’re working on some better ways to get products there, but it’s a big challenge for mid-size companies like us. We do our best to keep prices really competitive but with added duty and logistics costs, it is just going to be more expensive. We’ll keep working on it and we appreciate your passion and desire to get our products – and we want you to know that we’re doing our best to get it to you at an affordable price.

thank you for your reply.
Watterott in Germany seems to be not interested FTM as they wrote me acc to my request, and the most expensive thing from Generation Robots/France is shipping to Germany, apart from pricing aspects.

Shipping from UK to Central Europe (all here in the Common Market, except Switzerland) is currently probably the same like from France - nevertheless for UK there will be additional severe future customs issues to EU, because of UK’s unspeakable Brexit:
so UK is finally beaten out /sidelined for all customers in Germany and in the rest of the 27 remainding EU member states (~ 450 million remainding inhabitans) then.

But after all, France, UK, Germany, and Italy are almost equal by sales market size (>60 - 80 million inhabitants each) so having at least 1-2 reasonable providers in each country would be highly appreciated.

@tarynsullivan:
did you have already some new results about your attempts to provide your products by new distributors also in central Europe?

also at Amazon.de there is still no BrickPi3 available yet!

Hi there,
These things take some time. We can’t promise that we’ll find distributors in these different countries, and even if we do, remember that they will have to pay the shipping costs and taxes to get it there to supply to you, so it will still be more expensive. That is why you can understand why GR price might be more.

We’ll do our best, but if you are looking to use this product soon, what we have available now is all we can promise. BrickPi3 will be coming to Amazon UK, not Amazon.de. We don’t have any companies there that sell our products yet (that we know of). We’re small and we don’t have the capacity to do a lot of outbound sales in these different regions.

Wish we had a better answer for you, but hope you understand that as a growing team, there’s a lot to focus on just to make sure that the product is designed, manufactured and supported well. Again, appreciate all your enthusiasm and I’ll write back on this post if we have an update for you. But, I don’t see that happening in the near future with everything else we have going on… but we will keep working on it step by step to get better solutions going as we grow!
