dSolar and Lego EV3

Has anyone tried powering a Lego EV3 with a dSolar panel? Any tips?

(We were successful with our NXT kits but have recently upgraded.)

We’ve got a video of using the EV3 and dSolar here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koSocDzxfX8&list=UU4fCHNWD2ComQMtS8Xp6L3Q

The challenge with using the EV3 with the dSolar is that it takes so long to restart the EV3. If you have any interruption with the sunlight, or any problem, you’re going to have to wait a minute for it to restart. I would recommend you definitely use the cap bank with it.

Sorry, are there any specific problems you’re having with the dSolar and Ev3?

Thanks for the tip. We aren’t having any problems since we haven’t attempted to power the Ev3s with the dSolar panels yet!

We’re going to run a workshop with a group of middle-school students in September. Needless to say, I’ll try it out ahead of time. The good news is that we have the cap banks and we’re in Arizona so we have a pretty good chance for sunshine.

Fantastic. We would love to hear more about your workshop!
