For context, ROS 2 Humble Hawksbill was released last year May 23, 2022 and is a “5-Year Release” with EOL May 23, 2027. Iron Irwini will be released this year May 23, 2023 and is an “18 Month Release” with EOL of Nov 23, 2024. ROS 2 releases are planned for “Turtle Day” each year, and alternate between a 5-Year Release, and 18 month release.
There are no new features in Iron that the GoPiGo3 will suffer without, so sticking with ROS 2 Humble on GoPiGo3 for a few years will prevent a rash of “new system” headaches. (Honestly, I’m still recovering from migrating to ROS 2 Foxy, then to Galactic, and then to Humble. I like the idea of freezing at Humble.)
