Best way to cut thick plastic panels?

Greetings!

I want to add a Vellman 3" touchscreen to the top of Charlie’s top plastic panel by cutting a rectangular hole to give access to the GPIO pins.

I’m sure I could hack a “butt ugly” hack-job of an opening. However, I’d rather make it look at least semi-decent.

  1. I do not have a laser cut-out tool.
  2. I do not have a 3D printer.
  3. I do not have a fancy 3D milling machine.

Any ideas?
Would a jigsaw with a thin blade work and do a reasonable job?

Thanks!

Update:

Went to a local hardware store and asked about cutting relatively thick acrylic plastic.

I was given a hand-held manual jig saw and some fine-toothed blades with the advice to work slowly so as to not over-heat the plastic and clog the blade.

More later.
