Carl set his light level sensor to looking out the window at maximum occlusion 3:03 PM local time in South Florida. His conclusion: The puffy clouds before and after produced more light level fluctuation than the supposed eclipse that he was told not to look at.

We had 90% occlusion here in SE Wisconsin. Although it got dim it was still plenty light. There really is a pretty abrupt change at totality.
