GoPiGo 2 Connection Issue

I am having an issue with some students laptops (Windows 10 Build 1703) connecting to DexterOS. The WiFi network will connect to the robot, but the coding environment never launches in the browser. When I type bloxter.com or 10.10.10.10 into the browser it still does not launch. This only happens on some student laptops with some of the GoPiGos. I think it is a school device (maybe policy/proxy/firewall) issue. My personal laptop connects every time without an issue.

Any idea? Just curious if anyone has had this issue or one similar.

One oddity I did notice is that the laptops that don’t work connect to the wireless of the GoPiGo as IPv6. I disabled IPv6 and it stil doesn’t work. Even with it disabled and connected as IPv4, it doesn’t end up connecting as 10.10.10.10, which I noticed happens when everything properly connects.

New discovery: Flashing the SD Card will allow the laptop to connect again.

Also, I am using DexterOS v1.1.1

Great to hear!

I’ve had a similar case in the classroom, and running a dexteros_update also fixed it for me.

Hi,
We are experiencing a similar problem.
I updated dexterOS 1.3, I can connect at home to see the full Bloxter screen, lessons, etc. Porgram the GoPiGo2 without any problems.

When I connect in school, I get a message that my robot is not physically connected.
Suggestions?
Our school network support specialists are relying on me to guide them. We purchased a lot of GoPiGo (GoPiGo 2 and goPiGo3) and Brickpi units and need them to work.
Thanks,

Hello @ecerny,

fair warning, to help you out, I’m going to bombard you with questions

  1. What hardware are you using in the classroom? And what OS is on those computers/tablets/whatever
  2. When at school, are you able to see the wifi access point from the computer? And can it connect properly to the wifi? (does it say ‘connected’ )
  3. is there a VPN on the computer, or a firewall? It won’t work at all if there’s a VPN, and if it’s a firewall, then the answer is ‘it varies’
  4. Instead of going to mygopigo.com, have you tried 10.10.10.10 ?

Cleo

Thank you.

LG chrome based desktop computers

I can see GopiGo connection

I will have to get back to you on #3.

I have tried both my GopiGo and 10.10.10.10

Forgot to ask,
the WiFi antenna LED is what colour once your computer is theoretically connected?
(Disregard this, it would only be for a GPG3)

Hi
I have attached images to help figure out why we cannot get the full access to BLOCKLY for gopigo2

Any help is greatly appreciated.

thank you.

BLOXSTER not BLOCKLY, we use that for other coding/robots.
The green LED is flashing green, not always consistent
The red LED stays on.

Hello @ecerny
I am not seeing any images.

Additional questions:

  1. are you using the same computers at home and at school, or different computers?
  2. can you connect with your phone?
  3. does the school use 5Ghz Wifi connection (the GoPiGo only serves a 2.4Ghz connection)
  4. Is there a wifi jammer on school premises?

Hi
One more picture. About one hour passed between pictures. Please see below. Thank you.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. We really want this to work for our students.

photos

at which address did you send them?

Hi
I tried to access gopigo and noticed that the url is muygopigo, not mygopigo. (see image below) Does this make a difference?

Some questions from our network specialist,

  1. please let us know what frequency the wireless should be on?

  2. are there any specific channels on the wireless controller that need to be enabled.

  3. please be as detailed as possible so that we can connect to a full interface in order to program

  4. our school wireless network is new and recently built, we need to know what settings our access points need to be on.

I included our network specialist, Domingo, in this email. It will probably get posted to the forum.

Thank you.

@ecerny

Thanks for the photos. Based on them you are indeed connected to the robot, but for some reason DexterOS itself does not recognise it’s a GoPiGo2.

Can I ask you to run the update to 1.3.2 a second time? And make sure you power down once the update is done (the blinkers will stop flashing).

It’s possible something went wrong with the update.

Thanks,
Cleo

The wireless uses 2.4Ghz, on channel 6 or 11

However it does look based on your latest photos that you are indeed connected.
