GrovePi+ Humidity&Temperature Sensor showing -1

Hi, I am having an issue with my Humidity & Temperature sensor. Initially, I am using port D7 but due to change in code, I switched the port to D4. Here is my code:

import grovepi
import math
import time

sensor = 4

blue = 0
white = 1

while True:
 try:
     [temp,humidity] = grovepi.dht(sensor,blue)
     if math.isnan(temp) == False and math.isnan(humidity) == False:
         print("temp = %.02f C humidity =%.02f%%"%(temp, humidity))
     else:
         print("nan values")
     time.sleep(1)

 except IOError:
     print("Error")

The codes is the exact one that i found in the existing forums here. But I changed the sleep time to 1 as i want the temp and humidity to be displayed slowly and one at a time

GrovePi is installed.

Things i tried:

  1. update firmware of grovepi
  2. reinstall grovepi
  3. troubleshoot grovepi

1 and 2 should resolve the issue but it doesn’t. For 3 i saw the logs and everything seems to be fine. I will post the log files later on.

Plus i am not using raspbian jessie and raspbian for robots.
I am using Raspbian from Noobs.

Hi @min.hm95,

I think this could be linked to a bug that started manifested not long ago. So apart from showing us the logs you get with the troubleshooter, could you also show us what uname -a command outputs you?

I have a gut feeling this could be related to the kernel version of Linux.

Thank you!

This is the output i received from the command you asked me to enter:

Linux dex 4.4.50-v7+ #970 SMP Mon Feb 20 19:18:29 GMT 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux

By the way, I changed to raspbian for robots made by dexterindustries

here is the log file:

Checking for firmware version
=============================
GrovePi has firmware version: 1.2.7

if you compare the log file above with this, you can see the difference in the logs.

Hi @min.hm95,

Hmm, that’s good to know. So, basically, the GrovePi acted as if there was no firmware on it.
I can only assume the traces for SPI or the I2C connections have a cold joint somewhere that impedes communication.

@JohnC, have you encountered such situations with the GrovePi?

Thank you!
