Well I’ll go to the foot of our stairs. Following your command suggestions from a post in 2019 I now have a grovepi+ starter kit hat attached to a pi4b with the first project in the kit, a blinking led, actually working.
Hopefully now I can explore the other more complex projects in the kit. Thankyou so much for your help and patience.
