I’m not just a boomer, I’m prehistoric

TIL:

Not only have I not brought uv into my workflow, I still write all my own Python code. I have a bunch of boomer buddies that use Claude Code, which makes me feel “not just boomer, I’m prehistoric”.

(Yes I wrote assembler and even entered opcodes with front panel switches. Used punch cards / EBCDIC too.)

I have serious trust issues.

Never wrote assembler execpt as a token exercise. Same with punch cards - used them for a FORTRAN exercise in a class. So I guess I’m early historic (post stone-tablets, comfortable with papyrus  ).

Not doing much coding these days - doing more handcraft in the workshop (albeit with lasers and CNC machines, so not completely old school). I don’t use AI as much as my younger colleagues at work - TBH it just doesn’t occur to me.
