Pi4 with Bullseye 64-bit Success!

I tried slowrunner’s script on a PI4 with Bullseye 64- bit. Everything is working fine so far. I had read that the 64-bit OS would speed up the Pi4. It did. I am getting 20 fps with cv2. I was getting 13 with the 32-bit os. It seems much more responsive. So far, my bme_280, ps4 controller, pi camera, cv2 and all the GoPiGo parts are working fine.

Much nicer experience on 64-bit.
I think this is the build I am going to use for our NASA fellowships. My final thing to try is the Pi5 and see how that works before I make my final decision.
Thanks slowrunner!

Congratulations!

The improvement in OpenCV metric is impressive. Was this threaded or single thread?

I did some testing on a Pi3 and perhaps Buster:

That means Bookworm or Ubuntu 24 - let the headaches begin. (I do have a 64-bit Bookworm PiOS install but didn’t document it for others.)

NASA is really into ROS these days - Perhaps you want to try my ROS 2 Humble GoPiGo3 complete image with intro to ROS 2. (Works with no sensors, or with one or more from {Grove Ultrasound, DI Distance Sensor, Tilt/Pan Servo, PiCamera, DI IMU, YDLidar X4}
