The article mentioned the cost of the robot kit as $550, but also tells about adding additional parts/components.
Not sure I want my sandwiches made with peanut butter from a tube!

Of course the kit can be used for many seasons, so amortized cost isn’t so bad. There are annual costs to get the game field each year - that’s less reusable except for generic practice exercises.
Agree on the peanut butter - that wouldn’t be a FIRST project, but it does sound educational
