ROS 2 Jazzy Released Today

ROS 2 Jazzy Jalisco released today.

What is notable about this? It runs on Ubuntu 24

which just happens to run native (officially supported) on the Raspberry Pi4 and Raspberry Pi5

Of course, it will take some time for all the useful ROS 2 packages (such as Navigation, Planner, BehaviorTree Studio, and RTABmap visual simultaneous location and mapping) to get fully checked out on Jazzy running on Raspberry Pi.

The ROS 2 Humble LTS will not End-Of-Life until 2027, so I plan to continue in Docker on GoPi5Go-Dave.

p.s. There is no install script for the GoPiGo3 API to Ubuntu 24 so Jazzy is not an option for GoPiGo3 robots.

Not going to happen from me - I’m the only consumer of these and I won’t be needing it until May 23, 2027.
