[SOLVED] Barrel jack size

What’s the size of the barrel jack on the GoPiGo board? Also, perhaps the more important question: Is there any issue with using a 11.1v LiPo battery to power the board rather than the 8 AAs?

There shouldn’t be an issue. Of course be careful with the battery…

The male barrel jack should have the following specifications:

  • 5.5 mm outer diameter.

  • 2.0 mm inner diameter.

  • 10 mm in length - I’m referring to the height of the cylindrical barrel jack.

Regarding the LiPo battery, I’d be very careful with it, since the maximum discharge amperage is very high.
The GoPiGo doesn’t have a fuse, so if a circuit short happens somewhere, it can completely melt the circuit and even catch fire.

Please be careful with it - there’s a reason for why LiPo Fire-Safety Bags are on the market.
