Stereo camera - wizard or lizard?

Is it worthwhile for our robots it is it a waste of money?

overkill - only of use for generating 3D point clouds from stereo image and uses 100% of the Pi processor for it.

money better spent on some ToF distance sensors, a servo mount, a spare set of motors, and plexiglass decks.

(and in my preference - 1" plastic castor ball from pololu.

I’d probably go with the stereo setup if depth detection is the main goal. It can be a little more work to calibrate, but the obstacle detection feels way more reliable once everything is tuned properly.
